The worldwide Brotherhood of Scouts is some 28 million strong and has been going from strength to strength ever since Lord Baden-Powell founded it in 1907. In the UK alone there are well over 400,000 members of the Scout Association.  1st Wotton-under-Edge Scout Group was founded in 1909 (click here for the group history).

The 1st Wotton under Edge Scout Group is made up of:

•     Beaver Scouts for young people aged 6-8 years

•     Cub Scouts for young people aged 8-10½ years

•     Scouts for young people aged 10½-14 years

•    Explorer Scouts for young people aged 14-18 years. This section is run on a district basis, in partnership with 1st Wotton under Edge Scout Group.

•    Explorer Scouts are invited to join Network Scouts from 18-25 years and operate nation-wide, often through colleges and universities.

•     A Group Executive Committee consisting of an elected Chairperson, Treasurer, Secretary, parent representatives from each section, the Group Scout Leader and Section Leaders.

Each section is led by trained adult leaders under the guidance of a Group Scout Leader (GSL), who co-ordinates the work of all the sections. Together, several groups make up a District (Cotswold Vale), led by a District Commissioner (DC) and a team of Assistant District Commissioners (ADC). A number of Districts in turn make up a County (Gloucestershire), with a County Commissioner (CC) and a team of Assistant County Commissioners (ACC).
